12 Jan Kitchen Design Myths Part 1
In this day and age, we cannot go one day without any design related books, adverts or shows being thrown in front of our eyes, blurring the line between what we should be doing and what we should not be doing with the heart of our homes. Fret not, we’re here to put some of these myths in their place…
Myth: You need to spend 25% of the value of your home on kitchen design work
Truth: This is a very old misconception where homeowners are led to believe that they should renovate their kitchen with a particular cost in mind. In a realistic way, everyone has a different budget and different unique factors regarding their kitchen that they must consider. Experts claim that the average household will spend 15% of their property value on their kitchen, however there is no set figure.
Myth: Wooden counters are not sanitary
It is 2017 which means that many wooden countertop manufacturers apply a sealant on the top of their products, which will provide a guard to stop dangerous bacteria becoming trapped inside. In fact, many wood material actually has an antimicrobial property which will attack germs found in kitchens- so coupled with basic cleaning, wood can be used as a countertop!
